These two city blocks are at the heart of Salt Lake City’s downtown rising. And there are millions of square feet of sub-grade structure and utilities that must tie in with the multiple towers and retail space above grade. Okland and Jacobsen Construction were challenged with a design that only existed in 2D. May assisted the team in creating a series of 3D models for MEP coordination and field installation planning. This effort resulted in a measured saving of $2.5 million on the project.

Cal Tech Project Title

3D construction modeling technology can be leveraged in the field. This project at Cal Tech in Pasadena used the power of BIM for what we call Level 400 installation detail modeling.

May’s CATIA modelers helped the framing and sheetrock team of Martin Brothers step up to the plate and use the data in the model to accelerate field installs on this very complex and challenging project.

Western States Mechanical put their best foot forward by utilizing 3D modeling to troubleshoot tight and complex areas for the new Library on Snow’s campus. The process worked so well that the Electrical and Firesprinkler teams also joined the effort.

The result: A measured ROI of 10x on the project. Hands down saving WSM and the owner a great deal of money.
