May Construction Services is a virtual design and construction technology shop. Accelerated MEP system layout, Shop-Drawing/Integrated Work Plans, 3D CFS Precon Framing, Drywall Modeling, Structural Concrete Lift Drawings, Lidar Scan-to-BIM, are just a few of our passions. We are also a licensed and insured general contractor.
Ben May begins part time consulting work using PTC's 3D Pro/Engineer software for construction projects. Utilizing parametric technology for utility system layout, coordination and structural concrete design and model based 3D quantity take-offs. The idea proves groundbreaking and easily surpasses traditional AEC CAD processes.
-1999 While attending BYU, May consults for Smith International and BYU's Rapid Prototype Realization Center modeling both manufacturing and construction project systems. The manufacturing logic, technology and processes using solid modeling software and data management continue to be refined and modified to work in the AEC environment.
May finishes his CM degree at BYU and works as a 3D and 4D modeler on the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Here Ben was fortunate to work with AEC virtual design pioneers like – Kathleen Liston, Derek Cunz, John Haymaker and Martin Fischer.
-2001 May begins using the beta release of Revit 1.0. Use of CommonPoint 4D, Navisworks, and Architectural Desktop become streamlined.
3D & 4D Modeling work begins for DPR Construction on the Library of Congress National Audio-Visual Conservation Center in Culpeper, Virginia.
-2004 LAX Expansion, Olive View Medical Center and Martin Luther King Hospital Renovation projects are added to May's 3D and 4D modeling portfolio. URS and AECOM are added as clients.
New levels of 3D/4D modeling detail are tested and refined on the UCSC project for DPR Construction in Santa Cruz.
-2007 May launches his construction services business full time, opens the first formal office space in Provo, Utah. The Lakeview Fields Development, Elk Ridge Custom Residences and Cherry Orchard Villas projects are completed.
Work begins on the Block 75 and 76 City Creek Center transfer deck projects.
May Construction Services grows from two employees to six, and adds over twenty new clients and projects to serve the growing regional demand for virtual design and construction.
-2011 The search for advanced VDC technologies and processes continues. New focus on accelerated MEP system layout, Shop-Drawing/Integrated Work Plans, 3D CFS Precon Framing, Drywall Modeling, Structural Concrete Lift Drawings, Lidar Scan-to-BIM…and on…and on…and on….
BIM and VDC is our passion!
